Alison's studio in the heart of North Dorset

Downend Farm Studio is a self contained, purpose-built and fully equipped working studio in Dorset where Alison works and runs her workshops and classes.

A large range of art materials and stationery are stocked at the studio and a catalogue ordering service is available.

Alison's very fortunate that her career takes her all over the country, and so the shop is open by appointment to make sure someone is here when you wish to visit. Students are also able to purchase art materials during their class.

Please get in touch to visit the studio, we are always very happy to see you and you are welcome to join us for a tea or coffee without any expectation of a sale.

Resident framer, Richard Foot, strives to use reclaimed wood wherever possible, and the rest is from sustainable sources. Richard currently offers the following services:

* Bespoke and pre-made mounting and framing.
* Browser/portfolio presentation
* Frame surgery
* DIY supplies
* Presentation advice

Classes at Downend Farm Studio are relaxed and informal, encouraging you to have a go at something new or refine your skills. You can view and book onto art classes through the online shop.

Private lessons are ideal to develop a specific media or technique, or to refine your own individual style with the support of artist Alison C. Board.

The studio is always buzzing with flora and fauna, and the menagerie of resident animals provide plenty of inspiration and entertainment to Alison and her students. Pictured here is Buffy (left) and Phez, a rescued pheasant. The studio also looks over the farm's horses, and Alison's two Jack Russell Terriers sometimes make a brief appearance. It's not secret the studio welcomes animals of all shapes and sizes; you can even ask to bring your dog along to your next class.

Downend Farm Studio is situated in the centre of Downend Farm, which can be found between the villages of Pimperne and Stourpaine in Dorset. Easily located between Higher Shaftesbury Road (C13) and the A350, it is one of a small number of properties slightly off the beaten track.
